Team Q&A – Meet Annabel
Where are you from originally and where do you live now?
Born in Calgary I travelled around with my family – Brisbane, Jakarta, Calgary – and finally I ventured out to the wild west of Canada for University in Victoria. Now I'm a proud Wellingtonian who loves flat whites, walking “around the bays” and fine NZ food.
What do you do at voeveo?
Being the Community Director it means I get to do a little bit of everything I love: meeting sellers, getting feedback from our members, helping with the user interface, writing up our happy help material and leading our advertising strategy. It's a super job because I get to work with all the members of our team.
What's some of your favourite content on voeveo?
Lately I've been favouring all things hip hop. However, some of my main favourites are MSDC's robots, RyFly's musicians, the sounds of The Dept and 10basst T.
What kind of mobile phone do you have and why do you like it?
I love my Sony Ericsson K800i. In fact it was stolen (boo) and I didn't hesitate replacing it. The sound is great, easy features and a super little camera.
When you're not in the office what are you doing?
No doubt you'll find me: reading, out having fine food, on the Internet (I know even in my space time!), watching a favourite series like Dr. Who/Weeds/Mighty Boosh, walking about Wellington or traveling – I love exploring New Zealand and beyond. (Oh and my wee design blog: www.annabelyouens.com)
What's at the top of your playlist right now?
It's very erratic. Today I listened to: Kate Bush, Interpol, Iron & Wine, Iggy and the Stooges and a little Jethro Tull.
Any great Internet site finds?
Check out www.shipsinker.com and read Rich's Doctor Who comic. It features all ten of the doctors – quite amazing! And www.supermarkethq.com – a new designer storefront. I love supporting independent designers.
